My tagline would be “Embrace the Adventure!“
This tagline was my motto for a whole year to remind me to say “YES” to opportunities and to take risks. I’ve always been adventurous in my imagination, and I wanted to actually have adventures. It also helped me get over some of my anxiety related to decision-making, since I promised myself I would take advantage of whatever was placed in my path– my decision was premade.
But then my life has largely been a series of involuntary adventures, sometimes as consequences of things I do, but as often as not a result of other people’s actions and decisions. When there’s a mishap or a misstep or a random act of cosmic comedy that comes into your life, you might as well embrace it. Reality being what it is, there’s often no way around but through.
As I have gotten older, I am more inclined to try things and not worry about failure. Failure, after all, is just part of the adventure. Embracing the adventure is also embracing failure and being okay with it. This was a really hard lesson to learn, and it is one that I wish I could impart to other people. You know you’ve really learned it when you aren’t embarrassed about being wrong, asking questions, or falling on your face in front of everyone. When you get back up and dust yourself off with a wink and a grin, you’re embracing the adventure.
