List three jobs you’d consider pursuing if money didn’t matter.
- Writer: I would write full-time if I didn’t need a dependable income (which I currently don’t have anyway). I do a little paid writing, but I write this blog for free, and this isn’t the only unpaid writing I do. Maybe that’s something I need to think about.
- Preacher: No, I am not trying to be funny. Outside of megachurches and televangelists, there’s not a ton of money in religion, especially when you fall outside of the mainstream (without becoming a cult leader). And I do have a message on my heart, as some people might say. If I were to pursue that vocation, I would not want to draw a salary until my flock was large enough, established enough, and fully funded for all its obligations anyway.
- Artisan: I was torn among artist, maker, and builder, so I decided to combine the 3 under the “artisan” umbrella. I love making things with my own hands, improving my skills, creating something better the next time. That doesn’t lend itself well to manufacturing at scale and I don’t have the confidence to price my handiwork where I would need to in order to make a living, even when I am especially good at that particular craft. That pricing issue may be something else for me to think about.
