Prompt: If I had a million dollars

If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?

I would put $10,000 in a high-yield savings account for each of my 10 grandchildren (so far), plus my 4 kids who don’t have kids. That’s the first $140,000.

I’d give $80,000 each to the Foster Love Project and the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh. That’s another $160,000, for a total of $300,000 so far.

I’d give 20 older adult students $10,000 private scholarships for their studies at Pitt-Johnstown, my alma mater. That’s $200,000. $500k down, the same to go.

I’d give another $200,000 to ShelterBox USA. They supply stuff like tents and household essentials in disaster zones around the world. It seems like there’s a lot of catastrophe going around lately.

The remaining $300,000 I would give to small initiatives around the country doing direct work with the unhoused.

A million dollars down and a bunch of people helped! I wish this weren’t just hypothetical.
