Days 3 & 4

Day 3 was productive, but not in the way I had anticipated. I ended up having a therapy appointment that was rescheduled at the request of my therapist and a dental appointment in the afternoon. I was surprised to get a same-day appointment with the dentist, but I am glad I got that taken care of. Now I am waiting on a prior authorization for a root canal to get this tooth fixed. Attending appointments is the smallest of small victories, but I will take my wins where I can get them.

Today has largely been lost to viral misery, but I knew I was coming down with this cold and planned accordingly. There are only two things on my open-ended to-do list today: writing this blog post and doing some tasks on Outlier to earn a little money.

I have now blogged. Next come the tasks. I don’t think that I will do very many tonight because this virus running through my family has been particularly hard on me this time. That’s fair, I guess, as I am usually the one person in the family who doesn’t get sick when the latest cold or flu blows through. I might take this evening a little easier and work on the TTRPG game jam I signed up for, or perhaps the conlang for that other thing I signed up for.

It’s easy to sign up for things. Finding time? Well, that’s part of the reason for the scheduling experiment. There are things I have to do and things I want to do, but I often waste a lot of time figuring out what to do next. Or I give up and go play RimWorld.

On the other hand, I recently finished creating a one-page RPG, even though I missed the deadline for the game jam it was for. It’s an epistolary game for 2 called “My Goblin Pen Pal.” It is a silly letter-writing game where one person is a human and the other is a goblin. Each person has a table of writing prompts that they select by rolling 2d6. I wouldn’t say it is my best work ever, but I am proud to have started and finished something.
